Mikey Burton
A great graphic design, who obviously has a strong illustrative background. I’m so interested in that borderline where illustration and design overlap.

Sketchbook - 4x digital monotone sketches
The guy who works on the desk beside mine has taken up doing a 50 minute sketch on his Wacom tablet every day. I decided to follow his lead seeing the great improvements he has made in his painting skillset, and have so far produced one sketch per day for the last for days. I’m using a custom brush, let me know if you want to get hold of it and I will email it to you (I’m totally in love with the textures you can achieve).
Day 1. A mo & a ciggie, with well oiled hair, he’s obviously too cool to be at the party.
Day 2. An Indian in a war bonnet. This is based on a very old photo my friend sent me.
Day 3. An Australian gangster from the 20s. This one was tricky because in the photo I was using as reference, the guy is very pale.
Day 4. An Australian criminal with a seriously messed up face. This one took about an hour or so to paint.
1 hour digital sketch - Australian Boxer / Criminal. This one was a challenge! His face is so messed up…
